My son

I was in the hospital for 5 days with my wife and new son. What an amazing experience. I thought that I could never love another being as much as I love my daughter. I was wrong. I love my son as much as I do I daughter. There is this sense of unconditional love that one feels for their children. It's impossible to understand if one does not have children. Anyways, this gave me an opportunity to take some photos of infant features. I love baby flanges'.

During one of my photo session my canon XT flash an "err 99" and shut down my camera. After rebooting the camera, it happened again. I fear that I cannot trust my camera anymore. I want to get the Canon 7D, but it is hard to justify 2K when we are trying to save for a trip to China. As of now, I will have to hope that my camera does not shut down on me during a photo shoot.

Accidental Illumination

I was in the process of turning the background into one solid color. As I was doing this, I realize that there was a nice glow around the centerpiece. So I left it like that.

The Men

The Men had been wanting to go get studio pictures for the last couple of years. Lucky for them my traveling studio just happens to be with me. They made great candidates for my first real photo shoot outside of my wife and kid.

Posing with children

It's hard to get cute pictures of children posing with adults. I've come to realize now to just have the adult play with their children so that the poses come out natural. And plus everyone is happy. Stinky was having a hard time posing in this photo shoot. Finally, my wife just started playing with her and the pictures turned out great.

Belly shots

Inspired by some photographs of pregnant bellies, my wife asked me to take some of hers. I personally like the first one better. Which one do you like better?

Almost pop

We're down to less than three weeks before our scheduled C-section. My wife was able to suck up the uncomfortableness and made these pictures

Little super model

I love my little SUPER model. She was apprehensive at first, but I was able to get her to pose. She has a beautiful smile.

Like mom like daughter

Picture of my beautiful sister and niece. Sometimes it takes a picture to see the resemblance between two people. I realized that when taking pictures of children, you kind of have to be on their level. My niece would only smile and pose for pictures once I started to be silly with her. I made faces and ask her to make them back at me.. then I would say.. now smile!..

The year of the White Tiger

We spent Chinese new years at my parent's house. I love going there because I get a see and play with my nieces and nephews. This year, I decided to take my portable studio for some photo opt. It was hard enough trying to get one child to focus on the camera... let alone four! It was fun, but tiring. I love the picture of Kung Fu Master and my little stinky being silly on the set. My family had a great time at Ah-mah's house.

Tint vs. Black and white

I like tinting and turning pictures black a white. I feel that it sometimes bring out the best in the picture. In this particular picture, the focus are the eyes. Which edit do you think bring out the eyes more.

The Abba's

Had some time to hang out with our friends.. these are some cute shots of the family at the CDM during a Pappa Hugs concert.

Birthday party

We went to a birthday party this weekend. It was a very nice birthday party. I enjoyed watching the birthday boy lining up his new cars after inspecting each one for any defects. Watching him at work gets me excited to have my own in about 6 weeks. I took this opportunity to play with some dept of field photos.

First studio photoshoot

I got a home photo studio for Xmas this year. I've been wanting one for a few years now and finally got it from my loving wife. I was very excited to open the gift, but have just gotten around to playing with it. The setup is very simple and compact. The only dissapointing thing about the studio is that the backdrop is pretty thin. I plan on getting a thicker material later.

On a lazy Saturday afternoon, I was presented with a hour and a half of free time. I quickly setup the studio and asked my grumpy daughter to be my model. It took a little help from my wife to get Stinky to cooperate.

I'm pretty happy with the turnout of my first shoot. I played with Adobe Photoshop Lightroom and enhanced the pictures.
